LinkedIn launches applications

After months and months in development LinkedIn finally launched their new application functionality yesterday. In the conversations I had with them they were always very clear that they wanted this new functionality to stay focus on professional connection, productivity and have all of it stay true to their site. It is still in Beta which leaves me with some hope because this first pass is nothing but repurposed functionality from other sites like Google, Amazon, WordPress and SixApart. Right now this just feels too bolted on and like a less than innovative attempt to try and grow the site for me but I have hope that the platform will let them do more with it in the future.
